Cosmic Rays from Mysterious Source Bombarding Earth

Scientists have discovered an unidentified source of high energy cosmic rays bombarding Earth from space. They say it must be close to the solar system and it could be made of dark matter. "This is a big discovery," says John Wefel of Louisiana State University and Principal Investigator for ATIC, Advanced Thin Ionization Calorimeter, a NASA funded balloon-borne instrument high over Antarctica. "It's the first time we've seen a discrete source of accelerated cosmic rays standing out from the general galactic background."

The new results show an unexpected surplus of cosmic ray electrons at very high energy 300-800 billion electron volts that must come from a previously unidentified source or from the annihilation of very exotic theoretical particles used to explain dark matter.

"This electron excess cannot be explained by the standard model of cosmic ray origin," said Wefel. "There must be another source relatively near us that is producing these additional particles."

According to the research, this source would need to be within about 3,000 light years of the sun. It could be an exotic object such as a pulsar, mini-quasar, supernova remnant or an intermediate mass black hole.

"Cosmic ray electrons lose energy during their journey through the galaxy," said Jim Adams, ATIC research lead at NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala. "These losses increase with the energy of the electrons. At the energies measured by our instrument, these energy losses suppress the flow of particles from distant sources, which helps nearby sources stand out."

The scientists point out, however, that there are few such objects close to our solar system.

"These results may be the first indication of a very interesting object near our solar system
waiting to be studied by other instruments," Wefel said.
alternative explanation is that the surplus of high energy electrons might result from the annihilation of very exotic particles put forward to explain dark matter. In recent decades, scientists have learned that the kind of material making up the universe around us only accounts for about five percent of its mass composition. Close to 70 percent of the universe is composed of dark energy (so called because its nature is unknown). The remaining 25 percent of the mass acts gravitationally just like regular matter, but does little else, so it is normally not visible.

The nature of dark matter is not understood, but several theories that describe how gravity works at very small, quantum distances predict exotic particles that could be good dark matter candidates.

"The annihilation of these exotic particles with each other would produce normal particles such as electrons, positrons, protons and antiprotons that can be observed by scientists," said Eun-Suk Seo, ATIC lead at the University of Maryland, College Park.

The 4,300-pound ATIC experiment is carried to an altitude of about 124,000 feet above Antarctica using a helium-filled balloon about as large as the interior of the New Orleans Superdome. The goal of the project is to study cosmic rays that otherwise would be absorbed into the atmosphere.

The story behind Dead Space takes place hundreds of years in the future, during a time when mankind has exhausted all of the natural resources on Earth. Fortunately, in this dire time, humanity has mastered space travel, and a process known as planet cracking has been developed to combat this drought. A celestial body is split into pieces, and its minerals are strip-mined and melted, returning the byproducts to Earth for consumption. An entire fleet of ships sails the stars performing these tasks, and the crown jewel of this mining fleet is the USG Ishimura, which has performed more planet cracks that any other vessel. However, on a routine mission, the ship cuts off all communication from galactic command, which is somewhat strange. To discover what's going on, a small maintenance crew is quickly dispatched to the Ishimura from a nearby vessel.

Una sonda espacial fue lanzada exitosamente y saco una foto detallada del universo EVE. Aqui se ve la region de Caldari y su capital Jita. Al sur y al norte de la galaxia se ven destellos de fuertes fluctuaciones de movimiento de materia oscura que da la pauta de un gran moviemiendo de tropas.

Procuren mantener una distancia prudencial para orbitar al objetivo a mas de 10km y si es un Rapier mejor warpeen porque van a morir como un insecto molesto.

Nos sorprendemos al ver las maravillas de los farolitos que parpadean y el estilo único de una nave poderosa que se distingue por ser un excelente torpedero que te asegura un retorno exitoso a la estacion con millones de isks en tu wallet. Para roer la armadura de los piratas fitear los high slots con 6 arbalest cruise launchers hace la diferencia usando faction cruise missils del tipo de daño que convenga, y los 2 slots que quedan para hybridos a elección preferentemente los mas caros. Si optamos por salvagear le pondremos un salvager y un small tractor beam. Si queremos hacer daño a corta distancia reemplazamos los cruise siege launchers por siege launchers con un alcance te a 15 km tambien con faction ammo. En los med slots las 2 shield resistance tec 2 entrarían en juego junto con un invulnerability shield tec 2 , un large shield extender y un x large shield booster tec 2, las resistencias varian segun las misiones que se tengan que hacer.Un target painter tec 2 al final no vendría mal. En los low 3 ballistic control system tec 2 , un damage control 2 y un power diagnostis system tec 2. Por ultimo los rigs de capacitor, la nave posee un alto mantenimiento de energia y debe tener un constante suministro de cap. Eso seria el fiteo mas adecuado en mi opinión. Los misiles llegan bastante lejos con un alcance de 90km o mas y haciendo un daño efectivo de 290 cada uno y los torpedos 600.

LA BATALLA FINAL

En el vasto océano del espacio infinito las estrellas iluminan las cubiertas salpicadas de tantas batallas. El capitán confía en su tripulación dispuesta a dejar su ultimo aliento para defender una posición estratejica cerca de los limites de las fronteras del imperio. Alertas de una posible invasión enemiga pone en guardia un escuadrón de apoyo y vienen al rescate. La alianza siente que sus posibilidades de seguir en el sistema son viables y alinea su flota para interceptar la amenaza que se avecina. Un temblor cósmico movió los engranajes que alimentaban los capacitores de las naves capitales y fueron trasladados directo a un baño de partículas que rasgaban las armaduras como manteca. Las ordenes de los oficiales se mezclaban con los gritos de los maquinistas y los artilleros. En pocos segundos poco quedaba de la flota que enarbolaba las banderas de la victoria. En los metales retorcidos y cuerpos flotando como estalactitas se veía una foto en la mano de uno de los caídos, imagenes de tiempos felices donde brindaban Quafe y sonriendole al futuro.
